Fox Orders New Adult Animated Comedy Series From ‘Game Of Zones’ Creators Adam And Craig Malamut

Fox has ordered the adult animated comedy Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros. (working title) to series.

Show details:

  • The series was created by Adam and Craig Malamut and is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Fox Entertainment. Scheduled to air in 2024, it will be animated by Fox Entertainment’s Bento Box Entertainment.
  • Adam and Craig Malamut are brothers from South Jersey. Self-taught animators, the two write, direct, voice act, sound edit, and compose music for their productions. Their first series, Sports Friends, streamed on Yahoo Screen. The brothers later moved to Bleacher Report where they created and ran the popular NBA spoof series Game of Zones.
  • In Universal Basic Guys/The Hoagie Bros., two brothers find themselves jobless when the hotdog factory in their town goes fully automated. Fortunately, the town recently started a universal basic income pilot program, giving each resident $3,000 per month, no questions asked. With unlimited free time and their basic needs met, the two and their friends have to adjust to a world where they’re no longer needed.
  • The show is the latest addition to an impressive adult animation pipeline of projects planned to air on Fox or stream on Tubi in the coming years. In May of 2023, the Fox network plans to launch a two-hour block of adult animation programming on Mondays to complement its popular Sunday night Animation Domination schedule.
  • Fox Entertainment president of entertainment Michael Thorn said in a release: “Adam and Craig are two of the boldest and most irreverent voices I know. This series’ distinct point of view could only come from a talented multi-hyphenate team that writes, animates, and voices their work like no one else. And in the tradition of the incredible creators who have been a part of our storied Animation Domination lineup, the Malamuts have an intrepid DIY mentality that has allowed them to create some of the funniest and most surprising characters we’ve seen in a long time.”
