Netflix has shared a slew of images and the official trailer for Oscar-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro’s stop-motion fantasy, Pinocchio, a reinvention of Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. The highly anticipated movie is now playing in select theaters and arrives on Netflix December 9.
The whimsical, stop-motion musical, directed by del Toro and award-winning stop-motion animator Mark Gustafson, follows the mischievous and disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world.

The star-studded cast features the voice talents of Ewan McGregor; Christoph Walt; Gregory Mann; David Bradley; Tilda Swinton; Cate Blanchett; Finn Wolfhard; John Turturro; Ron Perlman; Tim Blake Nelson; and Burn Gorman.
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio is directed by del Toro and Gustafson and is written by del Toro and Patrick Hale. Producers include del Toro; Lisa Henson (Jim Henson Company); Gary Ungar; Alex Bulkley; and Corey Campodonico (Shadow Machine), with Jason Lust serving as executive producer.
The production design is by Guy Davis, with Curt Enderle serving as co-production designer. Robert DeSue serves as art director; Brian Leif Hansen is the animation supervisor; Frank Passingham is the director of photography; and Georgina Hayns is the director of character fabrication. The composer is Alexandre Desplat.
